Apart from God life is meaningless
We have been going through some amazing classes in my third semester at New Tribes Bible Institute. I have gotten to take 2 Corinthians, Romans, Missions in Church History, James and Angelology.
Right now in Romans class we are going through verse by verse and learning about man’s desperate need for God, about how God provided the only way for man to be cleansed, and about our new life in Christ- our justification, sanctification and glorification.
I had always loved reading the Old Testament. I loved seeing how God showed Himself faithful to individual people, fulfilled His promises and did signs and wonders that could have been done by no other than the Creator of the world. But this semester I have seen something else. I have seen how God shows Himself in the New Testament.
As I read through the testimonies of believers and how God worked with the early church it just amazes me. Our God never changes. He is always consistently working with people, staying faithful to His word and His great love is constantly being poured out on us!
We deserve nothing that He has given us, and yet He loved us enough to not only provide the only way to be saved, but that He completely finished the work on the cross. John 19:30 …He said, “It is finished!” There is nothing more we can add to the already finished work of Christ. All we can do is accept the gift by believing in what God says He has already done!
I was so worried before I left home that my focus would get off of God and on other things around me. Last year I really struggled with finding balance in friendships, homework and my personal time with God. God has been so good and faithful to me though.
The more I study His Word and learn about who He is and the personal relationship He wants with me the more I desire to get to know Him more. My focus has remained on God so far and I pray it continues to stay there …because all else apart from God and His will for my life is completely meaningless and unsatisfying.

Held Together
Jeremy and I moved from Magnolia, AR to attend New Tribes Bible Institute. We are having so much fun at school and are learning a lot. God is showing Himself faithful in our move as we are seeking Him.
We began new classes on Wednesday of this week; Romans, Soteriology (The study of Salvation), and 1&2 Peter. The first two days have been so good.
For our first assignment in Soteriology, the instructor gave us a list of verses that had the words "saved or salvation" in them and we had to decipher whether it was talking about justification, sanctification, glorification, or a physical salvation.
This was very enlightening because most of the time when I come to the word saved in the Bible; I automatically think its talking about justification. This is not always true.
We are so excited about what God is going to teach us this semester. Please be praying that we will be dependent on Him and get to know Him more deeply as we study His Word.
I LOVE my classes!!!
At the moment I am taking Hermeneutics, which is basically learning to dig into the Bible for yourself.
In Hermeneutics 1a we dug into John 12 to no END, and now in Hermeneutics 1b we have been digging into Philemon, just to learn practical application and such.) I love Hermeneutics so much.
The homework is time consuming, but so useful for future application.
Then I’m taking Pentateuch, and right now we are in Exodus. It has been really cool. So far we have just been going through chapter by chapter and discussing/learning new things about it.
Then Old Testament History, one of my favorites so far. Our teacher, Dave Hodgedon, is such a fabulous teacher. He makes the Old Testament stories literally come alive.
I’ve never enjoyed them more. And I’ve never connected with the people who lived in those times more. I guess in the past they didn’t seem real to me.
World Survey and Tests
I enjoy all my classes here at Bible School, but one of my favorite assignments I’ve gotten to do is the world survey for my evangelism class.
The world surveys consist of 17 questions having to do with world views. I’ve gotten to talk to some interesting people and it’s surprising to hear what they believe. I talked to a lady at the park the other day and she has definitely had some Christian influence in her life, but she still doesn’t understand everything correctly.
Doing these surveys really makes me think about our goals in life and what we focus our time on. Do I just walk by people and give them a "Christian smile and hello" or do I actually stop and talk with them? Do I ask them their beliefs and get to know them as a friend? Or do I just say a little prayer and hope that someone comes along later to talk with them?
These world surveys have taught me a lot more than just to take notice of people. They have shown me that people really don’t know what the Bible says and they don’t have any hope for eternity.
This week we are ending our first block. (three week period) We have tests in all our classes and so I’ll be studying a lot. I’ve enjoyed my first set of classes. It’s going to be great to learn more about the Bible as I continue to take more classes.
